What is Cloze?
Cloze is an AI-powered shopping assistant that lives on your Shopify storefront as a chat widget. It helps customers find products, answers their questions, provides personalized recommendations, and drives more conversions — all automatically.
How does Cloze know about my products?
Cloze syncs directly with your Shopify store. It imports your products, collections, policies, and more so the AI has full context about your catalog. You can also add custom knowledge base articles for anything else the AI should know.
Do I need any coding skills to set it up?
Not at all. Cloze installs with one click from the Shopify App Store. It uses Shopify's Theme App Extension system, so the widget appears automatically on your storefront. Customization is done entirely through our visual dashboard.
Can I customize how the chatbot looks and behaves?
Yes, extensively. You can customize brand colors, avatar, icons, fonts, chat bubble position, bot name, personality, tone, language, welcome message, and much more. The Business plan also supports custom CSS for pixel-perfect control.
What happens when the AI can't answer a question?
On the Pro and Business plans, you can enable human handoff. When the AI encounters a question it can't handle, it can escalate the conversation to a real agent. You can take over, respond, and then release the conversation back to the AI.
Is there a free plan?
Yes. The Free plan includes 50 conversations per month, the AI chatbot widget, product recommendations, and basic customization. It's a great way to try Cloze with no commitment.
What counts as a conversation?
A conversation is a unique chat session between the AI and a visitor. A visitor can send multiple messages within a single conversation. Conversations reset monthly.
Does Cloze work with any Shopify theme?
Yes. Cloze is built as a Shopify Theme App Extension and is compatible with all Online Store 2.0 themes. It renders as a floating widget overlay, so it doesn't interfere with your theme layout.
Can I track performance?
Absolutely. The Pro and Business plans include an analytics dashboard with conversation counts, message volume, 7-day trends, top pages, and more so you can measure impact.
Is my data secure?
Yes. Cloze follows industry best practices for data security. Conversations are stored securely, and you have full control over what data the AI can access through our safety controls (inventory visibility, price display, vendor names).
Can I remove Cloze branding from the widget?
Yes, the Business plan ($79/month) includes the option to remove all Cloze branding from the chat widget for a fully white-labeled experience.
How do I cancel my subscription?
You can cancel anytime directly from your Shopify admin under Apps → Cloze → Billing. There are no cancellation fees or long-term contracts.
